DRAGONS: The Greenland Wyvern

Description

A remarkable creature, the Greenland Wyvern is one of the world's largest wyverns, as well as one of the most mysterious breeds that exist. Even being a voracious predator of seals, seabirds and fish, living along the coast of Greenland, its most notable feature is its bone armor. Similarly a hermit crab looking for a abandoned shell to protection, this wyvern also needs protection, since its leather, usually pale green, not very sturdy, easily wounded by weapons like swords and axes, thus, these dragons can travel hundreds, even thousands of miles away from the Greenlandic archipelago looking for bones of dead dragons in order to form a strong and sturdy armor, covering even the fingers of his giant wings. Some even form clever defense strategies, creating clubs on the tip of the tail or placing another skull there to intimidate rivals and invaders.
Even if they were known by the Inuit people who inhabited the region, the Vikings were the first to register them, and Leif Eriksson, son of Erik the Red, has described "the Bone Ghosts" in his journals. Being endemic in the Greenland islands, these reptiles are somewhat rare, hardly sighted off the coast of the larger island. Some speculate that they retreat to the interior frozen during the winter, seeking hibernation in under ice caves, or even migrating to the tropics islands to lay their eggs, but none of these hypotheses has been proven. Greenland Wyverns are popular among riders because the large wingspan gives them a flight similar to that of an albatross, and his temperament is surprisingly calm, making dear also among the beginner creators. It has many similarities to the Italian Wyvern, which suggests that it may be a trend of Roman Dragons who migrated to the North in the Ancient Times. But it has, apart from the obvious differences, one peculiar aspect: While Italian Wyverns walk waddling like lizards, these armored dragons have a bird-like walk, with wings folded close to the body, even if also can waddle on all fours.
