DRAGONS: The Greek - Hellenic Wyvern

One of the oldest known breeds, the Greek Wyvern - or Hellenic Wyvern - is also one of the most beautiful, covered with glittering scales, in shades of blue, purple, greenish or rarely red, always with gusted golden stripes recovering its muscular and stocky body . A formidable predator of seabirds, fish, sheep, wild boar and deer, this dragon often use aerial ambush, catching prey while still in the air, using the powerful claws of their hind legs, to later bake them with extremely hot fire bursts - one of the hottest of all the Draconic World. Besides the fire, the Greek Wyvern also has strong jaws, and poisonous spines on its flexible tail that can throw like darts to stun the enemy or prey. When it feels calm, the thorns of tail and the crown behind the head are down, but when they get excited or feel threatened, them bristle so that they look more menacing, and beat their wings tightly, a technique inherited much of their ancestor as the legendary Prehistoric Wyvern.
Already known by the early Achaeans and even by the Minoan Civilization of Crete - which had more knowledge about the breed that originated from the Greek Wyvern, The Cretan Wyvern - these majestic dragons were and are still abundant in the Balkan Peninsula and in certain Mediterranean islands, being respected and feared since ancient times. Were able to escape the discriminated hunt during the High Middle Ages, being protected by the Byzantines who inhabited the region of Greece, and many merchants used them as mounts or even private travel companions. Inhabitants of Mediterranean forests and rocky valleys, they are most commonly seen on the coast of the entire Mediterranean basin, often reaching to the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea. They are much loved by breeders and riders for their beauty, but also for their captivating and active temper that closely resembles certain dog breeds such as Labradors and retrievers.

Uma das raças mais antigas conhecidas, o Wyvern Grego - ou Wyvern Helênico - é também um dos mais belos, coberto de escamas reluzentes, de tons azulados, púrpuras, esverdeados ou mais raramente vermelhos, sempre com listras rajadas douradas recobrindo o corpo atarracado e musculoso. Um predador formidável de aves marinhas, peixes, carneiros, javalis e cervos, este dragão costuma usar a emboscada aérea, pegando a presa enquanto ainda no ar, usando as poderosas garras de suas patas traseiras, para depois assa-las com rajadas de fogo extremamente quentes - um dos mais quentes de todo o Draconic World. Além do fogo, o Wyvern Grego também conta com mandíbulas fortes, além de espinhos venenosos em sua cauda flexível, que pode lançar como dardos para atordoar o inimigo ou presa. Quando se sente calmo, os espinhos da cauda e da coroa atrás da cabeça se encontram abaixados, mas quando se excitam ou se sentem ameaçados, os eriçam para que pareçam mais ameaçadores, além de baterem as asas com força, uma técnica herdada tanto de seu ancestral quanto do lendário Wyvern Pré-Histórico.
Já conhecidos pelos primeiros Aqueus e mesmo pela Civilização Minoica de Creta - que detinham mais conhecimento sobre a raça que se originou do Wyvern Grego; o Wyvern de Creta - estes dragões majestosos eram e ainda são abundantes na Península Balcânica e em certas ilhas do Mediterrâneo, sendo respeitados e temidos desde a Antiguidade. Puderam fugir da caça descriminada durante a Alta Idade Média, sendo protegidos pelos Bizantinos que habitavam a região da Grécia, sendo que muitos mercadores os usavam como montarias particulares ou mesmo companheiros de viagem. Habitantes de florestas mediterrâneas e vales rochosos, eles são mais comumente vistos na costa de toda a Bacia do Mediterrâneo, chegando muitas vezes ao Golfo Pérsico e ao Mar Negro. São muito queridos pelos criadores e cavaleiros por sua beleza, mas também por seu temperamento cativante e ativo, o que os assemelha muito a certas raças de cães como labradores e retrievers.
